At the weekend I went to see 'The Fault In Our Stars'! I was sooo excited to see it and it felt like I had been waiting for a lifetime for the film to be released. Before I even knew there was going to be a film I was in love with the book. So like I said to my best friend's dad when we were at hers beforehand "this is a very important film!" He struggled to understand what I was on about but I'm sure most young people who have read the incredibly emotional and beautiful book know exactly what I'm talking about.
The only slight concern I had about seeing the film was whether they could portray the feelings the book provoked. The story makes you laugh out loud at some points but also has heart wrenchingly sad parts. I was unsure whether the film could make me fall in love with the characters all over again.
But I was wrong to ever doubt the power of TFIOS. The film was amazing. Like the book at some scenes I was giddy with glee and then I was wiping away the tears. Granted it didn't involve all the details that it had in the book but that is what you get in films. The pages of wondrously strung together words you get in a book are brought to life as people who can walk and talk and move and people you can stare at for hours on end. In this process some details get lost. I think films and books are two very different ways of telling a story. If I'm being honest I prefer TFIOS as a book. I love the film but just not as much.
I created a little collage of some pictures to do with TFIOS. I hope you enjoyed this post about one of my all time favourite books/film. Thank you for reading!
